Emily Rowell Brown

Emily is an Episcopal priest serving as rector of St. Anne's Scottsville. She is mom to two humans, Charlotte and Nicholas, and two dogs, Gigi and Jojo. She bakes pretty delicious vegan brownies when she is not preparing a sermon, serving as an Air Force Reserves chaplain, or teaching a group fitness class. She first became involved with Voices for Animals by way of the Charlottesville Vegan Roots Fest in 2018. She coordinates the Faith Outreach Branch at VFA.

Lindgren Johnson

Lindgren is an assistant professor of English at UVA, with a focus on critical race studies, critical animal studies, and vegan theory, and teaches classes in writing and literature. She became involved with Voices for Animals in 2017, when she reimagined the Charlottesville Veggie Fest as the Vegan Roots Fest, and has organized the annual festival since then. She coordinates the Education Branch at Voices for Animals.

Ashley Ridgway

Ashley is a soon-to-be UVA Law graduate focusing on Animal Rights Law, hoping to advance animal liberation through legal avenues. Ashley grew up in Pennsylvania and moved to Virginia after art school. After beginning law school at UVA, she became involved in the Virginia Animal Law Society, which connected her with Voices for Animals. She likes to spend time with her companion animals Tod, Oscar, and Skunk and is a passionate vegan cook. Through VFA, she works to broaden access to readable relevant legal information as it pertains to animal rights and welfare.
