Open Forum on Animal Welfare in Albemarle County

Chained DogWe have a big day coming for animal welfare in Albemarle County. On Monday, November 12, from 6pm to 9pm, at Lane Auditorium in the County Office Building on McIntire Road, an open forum will be held for the community to speak to the board about what you would like to see addressed with current animal welfare codes in Albemarle. Folks will have a very limited amount of time to speak, but please do speak. Power in numbers, my friends. And please bring a typed version of what you have to say to leave with the board.

The goal of this forum is to gather public input on the treatment and care of animals in Albemarle. Last year, a small group of activists successfully pushed for improvements in sheltering standards for outdoor dogs, but there is still much to be done to ensure a better quality of life for animals in our community. Please show up, speak your piece, and leave them with a letter that addresses those same issues.

Not much of a public speaker? No worries. For the good of the animals, just a few seconds of speech can make a difference.
